Debra Jess
Debra Jess has announced her final for BLOOD SURFER in both the paranormal and best first book categories of the 2016 Bookseller’s Best Awards. A DOUBLE final deserves a double Woo-hoo!  Woo-hoo!
Lena Diaz
Lena Diaz is also a finalist for ARRESTING DEVELOPMENTS in the short contemporary romance category of the Bookseller’s Best Awards.  This is Lena’s THIRD year to final in this contest and she won her category at least one of those years.

Membership Service Award – Awarded to the general member who has contributed the most to First Coast Romance Writers over the course of the previous year. This award cannot go to a Board member. – ABIGAIL SHARPE

First Coast Romance Writers Award of Merit – Awarded to any member who has exhibited devotion and outstanding service to the ongoing betterment of First Coast Romance Writers. – CHARLEE ALLDEN

2016 FCRW Award Nominees

Board of Directors Award – Awarded to a board member who has contributed the most to First Coast

Romance Writers over the course of the previous year.

Charlee Allden — for stepping in as president when Priscilla moved to her new position, for making

miracles happen with the Beacon, for communicating with speakers, and for helping newer writers find their

footing.

Beth Irwin – for serving as Secretary through illness and moving, for scanning 19 years of FCRW

documents onto the RWA website, and for attending the leadership loop at RWA15 to help our chapter stay

on track.

Priscilla Kissinger – for her two years of dedicated service as our President, for volunteering to serve on

the National Board and for her ability to make new members feel welcome.

Barbara Whitaker – for her many years of behind-the-scenes service as our Treasurer and for helping to

make the bylaws and financial rules clearer to the board and chapter members.

Lia Davis — for her work organizing the Retreat and the Holiday party.

Joan Denman — for her time and effort on the NERFA contest.

Jan Jackson — for her dedicated service to the chapter.

Vanessa Kelly — for co-chairing the NERFA contest, despite book deadlines and other personal

commitments.

Caroline Lingaitis — for coming into the chapter ready to volunteer and throw herself into everything

FCRW had to offer.

Marie Long — for her service to the chapter in maintaining our website, keeping it updated and

providing assistance whenever needed.

Abigail Sharpe – for always working behind the scenes on tasks she didn’t necessarily sign up for.

Randy Sykes — for his tireless work on the NERFA Contest, and for taking on additional duties when the

Judge Coordinator fell ill.

 

Award of Merit – Awarded to any member who has exhibited devotion and outstanding service to the

ongoing betterment of First Coast Romance Writers.

Charlee Alden – for always stepping in and helping out, and this year, specifically, for wrapping up the

Beacon smoothly and professionally.

Karen Archer — for diving in to help with whatever needs doing.

Lia Davis — for her ongoing support of the chapter, including organizing the annual retreat and

encouraging individual members.

Abigail Sharpe — for ongoing volunteerism and work behind the scenes to help the chapter and its

members.

Barbara Whitaker – for her professionalism and patience in handling all the business and accounting

and answering all of the chapter members’ financial questions.
